I watched this on the recommendation of a friend, who saw it promoted on Facebook. It's so painfully bad, I feel my friend owes me two hours of life. The writing lacks authenticity, the characters are superficial and the direction totally sucks. Each shot is so damn obvious, I feel like director Greg White should have subtitled it with 'feel shocked now', 'feel sympathy now'. The brooding male lead has some good moments, but frankly, the script is so weak he never stops being two-dimensional.Cheap camera work.. how many significant close-ups on inanimate objects can one person tolerate? Skip it and rent 'Basic Instinct' or 'Seven'. These films have a similar tension, but they are done with far more imagination, better camera work and more believable characters.

If one is familiar with economy of cinema as a means to create good films then it can be deduced that positive story telling is possible even with just two leading actors in a film. Director Kobayashi Masahiro has based his film "Japan's Tragedy" in Tokyo, Japan-a country where deaths through suicides are not merely treated as sociological problems given the fact that a large section of population is aware of the fact that in Japan suicides take more lives than earthquakes. The film is based upon an actual event related to the misuse of money meant for retired people. Masahiro Kobayashi chose static camera in order to capture the stubbornness with which an old Japanese father deals with his young son. This role has been nicely plated by Nakadai Tatsuya, a famous Japanese actor who has worked in as many as five films directed by Kurosawa Sensei. Although it is rather pessimist in tone, Japan's Tragedy but gives an emotional message that there is still some respect in the minds of Japanese people towards elders in Japanese society.

I've watched little Indian cinema, so this was a relatively new experience for me. I enjoyed it thoroughly. It's a fast-moving detective story in which we viewers are given about as much information as the detective, but he cleverly puts together the complex of clues and figures out the criminal. Plus, along with that, we have a personal involvement of the detective via his estranged wife, we have his daughter making a connection, and we have decent supporting detectives. We also have suspense and three action scenes in which the detective is very cool in exhibiting his martial arts skills. The film editing and sound use the latest techniques to jazz up the movie, and so does a lithe and moving camera.What's not to like? The story behind the killings is complex, and so is the plot devised by the killer. The appearance of an alphabet serial killer gives way to a more complicated plot. The back story of this plot ties in with Mohanlal's wife's career as a lawyer and the reason for their separation.In other ways, the characters are direct and speak directly of their philosophies, feelings, values and motivations, or else the movie conveys them through other characters and music directly. This is not the Hollywood style by any means.

If you go into this without knowing what is going on, you will have an advantage I think to those having read the outline. Let's just say, the movie has a few surprises in it. Especially the beginning feels like something different than it actually is. A good thing and what is more a very convincing performance by the young actors involved. Kudos to the director for creating an environment were they were able to perform like that.Berlin International Festival also thought this was something they could stand behind and it proved to be a wise choice. While the movie does portray the current financial situation in Greece, it also does have a fictional story embedded into this world. All from the perspective of a little girl on a mission. One of the better films to come out of Greece, this should be taken as an example that art is crucial and why Government shouldn't just cut everything off ...

I saw this film in the Film Festival of Thessaloniki. I like watching German Films, "Lolla Rent" and "Das Leben Der Anderen" were masterpieces. This film is not something great. One young criminal was arrested and took part in a modern project of punishment in a house in the forest. One of his victim works in this facility. That's the main story. You can predict the ending. The movie characters are flat , the directing is not something special, and the ending is disappointing. This film is about forgiveness and punishment. The main story could let in a extremely film, but in this movie, this story goes "wasted". The only interesting for me was this project of punishment, which I found very interesting and good for the society, although sometimes it does not lead to good results.
